Creative Partners

London Music Masters is honoured to work creatively with some of the most respected organisations and institutions in the music industry. The strong relationships and on-going collaborations we continue to develop are paramount to the successes of both the Bridge Project and the LMM Awards.

London Philharmonic Orchestra

The London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) is recognised as one of the finest orchestras on the international stage. Each year, the Year 1 Bridge Project Students get to experience the phenomenal playing of the Orchestra in a unique rehearsal setting, where the children sit amongst the musicians as they rehearse for an upcoming performance. This is an incredibly inspiring opportunity for our budding young musicians as they experience the diverse sounds from all the different instruments from a position better than a seat in the front row! Additionally, once a year a string quartet from the LPO works with Bridge Project Musicianship students so they can learn more about the string family in preparation for their first violin lesson.

LMM Award Holders are also given concerto opportunities with the LPO, a much sought-after engagement. Agata Szymczewska gave her concerto debut, performing theMendelssohn Violin Concerto under the baton of Osmo Vänskä at the Royal Festival Hall in October 2011. Jennifer Pike also had her concerto debut, performing the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Orchestra in Eastbourne in April 2011 and Elena Urioste performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto in the June 2010 LPO BrightSparks concerts at the Royal Festival Hall.

RPS Composition Prize winner Charlotte Bray was jointly commissioned by LMM and the LPO to write a new work, Scenes from Wonderland, for the Orchestra, the Bridge Project students and Jennifer Pike. The piece was performed to 4,000 primary school children at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the LPO’s education concert series and the occasion was a fantastic example of how the Bridge Project and LMM Awards work together and with our Creative Partners. The Orchestra also generously offer subsidised tickets to all Bridge Project students and their families to help enable access to classical music concerts.

Royal College of Music

The Royal College of Music (RCM) is one of the world's leading conservatoires, providing specialised musical education and professional training at the highest international level for performers, conductors and composers.  In December 2010, the LMM Christmas fundraiser was held at the RCM’s Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall in collaboration with the RCM Junior Department, which gave the Bridge Project students yet another opportunity to perform at a world class institution. Musicians and volunteers from RCM also help out at LMM events such as Bridgefest, providing fantastic support. Furthermore, many of our Bridge Project teachers are RCM graduates, ensuring the children on the Bridge Project receive the best teaching available.

Southbank Centre

The Southbank Centre is the largest single-run arts centre in the world and houses several incredibly respected venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and the Hayward Gallery. In October 2010, over 100 Bridge Project students performed at the Royal Festival Hall, displaying their fantastic music skills and talents before Agata Szymczewska’s concerto debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. They also support LMM’s Bridge Project Teacher Training programme by providing space to run training and preparation sessions, as well as generously offering subsidised tickets to Bridge Project students and their families to help enable access to classical music concerts.

Wigmore Hall

Wigmore Hall is one of the world’s most prestigious chamber venues and an essential platform for the most highly regarded soloists and chamber musicians. Each LMM Award Holder is given the fantastic opportunity to perform a recital at Wigmore Hall as part of their Award. LMM and Wigmore Hall also work together to provide exciting outreach days at our Bridge Project partner schools. In March 2011, Bridge Project students at Ashmole Primary school explored the music of Stravinsky’s Pulcinella through listening, movement and writing their own songs in response to the music with Wigmore Hall animateurs, musicians from the Royal Academy of Music and LMM Award Holder Jennifer Pike. Watch our latest promotional video to see the outreach day in action. Wigmore Hall also generously offers subsidised tickets to Bridge Project students and their families to help enable access to classical music concerts.

Sphinx Organization (Associate Partner)

The Sphinx Organization focuses on building diversity in classical music and providing access to music education in underserved communities in the United States of America. London Music Masters holds the same ethos and although Sphinx is based in America, we continue to build strong connections with the organisation and its performers. The critically acclaimed Harlem Quartet, formed through Sphinx, has helped to inspire our students when visiting and performing in our Bridge Project partner schools.
