Having launched in 2009, the LMM Awards are given every three years to three extremely talented violinists aged 18 to 28, recognising extraordinary musicianship with generous financial and career support.

The LMM Awards seek to identify violinists who:

  • Have the potential to become an artist possessing both depth of understanding and musical insight

  • Have the potential to develop great breadth of musicianship

  • Possess a talent for communicating the art and craft of musical performance at the highest level

  • Aspire to develop a career as a major international soloist

  • Show a willingness to become a musical ambassador, representing the best that music can offer to our society whilst proactively reaching out to the community

  • Have a developing career that will be enhanced by the award

Candidates are recommended anonymously by an international network of individuals highly respected for their music-related accomplishments and talents, as well as directors of prestigious music institutions.  A focused panel of esteemed advisors involved in a variety of areas in the music world are then responsible for selecting the three Award holders.
