Dilys graduated from Keele University in 2004 with a 2:1 Dual Honours in Music and Psychology. In 2008 she completed her PGCE in Secondary Music Teaching at Canterbury Christchurch University, completing placements within a Grammar, Comprehensive and Special Needs school.

She then moved to London, becoming a fully qualified teacher in 2009, after working for a year within a challenging East London School. In spring 2010 she began an internship with London Music Masters, while continuing to work part time as a Secondary Music Teacher.
