Experience an exciting and innovative event featuring a performance by percussion legend Dame Evelyn Glennie and the premiere of a new work by LMM’s own Hannah Kendall. Also featuring music from Joseph Phibbs, Steve Martland, and Joe Duddell, this concert is an engaging celebration of the music by the young generation of British composers. Also be sure to catch the pre-show discussion with the young composers themselves.

This Saturday at 7.30pm you can hear soprano Amanda Roocroft and conductor Vladimir Jurowski bring to life the pieces of Wagner, R. Strauss, and Brahms at the Town Hall Main Hall. It was the London Philharmonic Orchestra whose three-concert residency launched the Cheltenham Music Festial in 1945 and they are returning to Cheltenham on a rare day off, so you don’t want to miss this!

Take a trip to the past and enjoy vintage poetry and music at the Foyer Bar on level 2 of the Royal Festival Hall. The Southbank Centre welcomes poet Tiffany Anne Tondut, a well known writer on the blogging scene, and a wide variety of music from Ta Mere. This group offers a lovely blend of violin, bass, guitar, harmonica, bagpipes, and drums to offer all different types of popular music from the first half of the 20th century. This event is free so make sure and stop by!

Another exciting and free event is taking place on 28 June at 18.00 in the Inner Parry Room of the Royal College of Music. Join a fabulous group of musicians to hear one of the great voices of the twentieth century. In these four pieces, Bartok’s music ranges from the sensual and exotic to the dangerous and dramatic. Join leading contemporary dance collective Les Ballets C de la B during their limited run of the critically acclaimed Gardenia. This piece, inspired by the film Yo Soy Asi, explores the private lives of an extraordinary and unique group of aging artists. This show promises laughs, tears, and engaging contemporary music. The show is playing wednesday- saturday at 7.30pm and tickets are available online for £10 - £27.
