This month in Muso. None other than the LMM Award Holder, Jennifer Pike, dominating the front page. With the release of her new album, of violin sonatas by Franck, Debussy and Ravel, she gives an account of her thrilling music career. Discussed in the  interview was Jennifer's achievements from her winning the BBC young musician competition at just 12 years old to her debut appearance at the Proms at the of age 15, and now having two albums released. Particular credit is given to her involvement with LMM's Bridge Project, being an inspirational figure to hundreds of young kids, teaching them to aim high and translating to them a love of classical music. And all at the age of 21!... read more

  Charlotte Bray | Aldeburgh Festival

This Sunday 26 June go check out Alexandra Wood and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group perform Charlotte Bray’s Caught in the Treetop. This piece, inspired by poetry, is definitely a part of the Aldeburgh Festival you won’t want to miss. Writing Scenes From Wonderland

On Tuesday 28 June, Bridge Project students, LMM Award Holder Jennifer Pike and the London Philharmonic Orchestra will premiere Charlotte Bray’s Scenes from Wonderland as part of the BrightSparks schools concert series. Charlotte tells us about writing this exciting new piece ….

Scenes from Wonderland - a new work commissioned by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and London Music Masters to be performed in the Royal Festival Hall. Throw into the mix a top soloist by the name of Jennifer Pike and around seventy seven year old violinists from London Music Masters’ Bridge Project who have been playing for around a year! The possibilities seemed endless. My main objective from the onset was to inspire and stimulate the young violinists in a piece that would allow them to shine in their performances of it, whilst at the same time I wanted to ensure that the piece was still true to me and not ‘watered down’ contemporary music.
