LPO FUNharmonics Family Concert | 23 October
The newly appointed London Philharmonic Orchestra assistant conductor , Nick Collon , will be at the Royal Festival Hall this Sunday in his first engagement with the orchestra. They will be playing works by Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov, with songs including The Dancing Cossack and The Nutcracker for people to sing along to (don’t worry though, the words are given!). So get the whole family down for a great fun-filled afternoon out.

Bridge, Sir Harrison Birtwistle & Holst: This Prom promises to demonstrate the sheer diversity of British music with the UK premiere of Birtwistle’s “Concerto for Violin an Orchestra”, Bridge’s “Isabella”- a beautiful symphonic poem featuring some passionate string writing, and culminating in Holst’s astounding “The Planet’s”, with the extensiveness of the orchestra (including some instruments not usually found in the orchestra, such as the much underused euphonium!) producing some incredible sonorous sound.
