Former LMM Award Holder Elena Urioste Launches Ground-breaking Health & Wellbeing Programme for Musicians

This month sees the launch of Intermission, the health and wellbeing retreat for musicians, and the brainchild of our valued former LMM Award Holder Elena Urioste and fellow violinist Melissa White.

It’s a pioneering approach, emphasising the beneficial mutual benefits between yoga and music; bringing together the correlating principals learned in both practices, which can lead to improved muscular control, increased self-discipline, and a greater sense of peace.

Elena has also been running similar sessions with LMM Learning students throughout the year, emphasising the importance of learning how to care for our minds and bodies, alongside learning to play instruments. Elena has found it as invaluable as the children: “Thank you so much for putting your trust in me yesterday and allowing me to lead such a fun workshop! I hope the kids got half as much out of it as I did… It was a really wonderful afternoon and I feel quite inspired by it.”

Intermission will be taking place 20 - 27 August, and has been so welcomed by the musicians’ community, that it’s completely sold-out. We congratulate Elena on this bold, ground-breaking, and essential venture, which will no-doubt benefit countless players for many years to come.
