Music has the ability to transcend barriers and to create a genuinely ā€œmulticulturalā€ vocabulary as a starting point for meaningful exchanges. The LMM Festival, to be held in June 2009, will focus on building bridges across nations using performers as ā€˜Living National Treasures’.

Central to the Festival is the concept of ā€˜living masters’, world-class string players who represent the highest standards in Chinese pipa, Indian sitar, Jazz, and Eastern European folk music, among others. These artists perform in conjunction with Western classical violin greats, offering the opportunity for each to learn from the other. The resulting Festival will be a vivid experience that resonates beyond the stage. In a world where cultural differences are often heightened by lack of understanding, the Festival nurtures and celebrates the connections that unite us all.
