London Music Masters has launched The Bridge Parental Engagement Project. The programme will use a variety of activities including a range of workshops with the London Philharmonic Orchestra players, links to the Royal College of Music ensembles and opportunities to attend classical family concerts.
In this way it will further connect the parents and families with children involved in the Bridge Project to its sustained education programme. It is the hope that these activities will provide a continuity of support for the Bridge Project students inside the home as well as outside it. The aim is to get younger siblings eager to learn and able to direct their own learning, support emotional development through music and to encourage parents and children to work together.
The first session took place on Wednesday 29 October 2008 with great success at the newly opened Jessop Children's Centre with an 'Introduction to the Violin' workshop and singing activities.
